Apply for wife’s residence visa in UAE

Guys, I am here yet again with an interesting post with steps on ‘how to apply wife’s residence visa for UAE (Dependant VISA)’. First I will list the requriements which includes…

  • Computerized marriage certificate (NADRA’s) attested from MoFA of Pakistan then Consulate General of Pakistan in UAE and then MoFA of UAE
  • Your rental agreement on your name
  • DEWA bill (must be registered on your name)
  • Salary certificate in Arabic
  • Wife’s photo (Original Photo)
  • Copies of passport & VISA of husband
  • Copy of wife’s passport

Here is the step by step process…..

  1. Get computerized marriage certificate from NADRA
  2. Get your computerized marriage certificate attested from Ministory of Forign Affairs in Lahore
  3. After attestation from Ministory of Forign Affairs in Lahore is done ask your family to send you original computerized marriage certificate
  4. Once you have the original marriage certificate then get it attested from Pakistan Embassay in UAE. They will charge 8 AED (This takes only 30 minutes). Directly go to first floor. Go to Window 7 & 8. Deposit 8 Dirhams and they will guide you.
  5. Then go to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of UAE and then get it attested from there. They will charge 160 AED (This takes only couple of hours depending on the queue)
  6. Apply for new CNIC card of your wife in NADRA office Pakistan and apply for her passport as well (in Parallel).
  7. Get your rental agreement and get EJARI (EJARI is very important). Rental agreement must be on YOUR name.
  8. Get your latest DEWA bill. DEWA bill should also be on YOUR name.
  9. Get your salary certificate from your company in Arabic (Immigration will keep original one)
  10. Get copy of your passport & VISA and also copy of your wife’s VISA.
  11. Go to any typing center and pay 250 Dirhams and get the application typed in Arabic. They will give you a form. Cross check all details on the form. It should match with the details on the passport. This will take 10 minutes depending on the queue
  12. Once everything is complete then go to any immigration office and get your wife’s entry permit. Scan it and send it Pakistan so that she can travel.
  13. Once she is in UAE then apply for Medical. Once medical is done then apply for Emirates ID and in parallel apply for VISA stamping on passport. This will take about two weeks.

Get ‘OK to board’ from airline (where you are buying tickets) and submit original visa at the airport. They will charge you 50 Dirhams.

***** Very Important: Immigration guys need original documents so take all original documents along-with copy of your original passport & VISA with you ******

Good Luck!

Regards,

Muneeb

Ahmed do we have to get it attested from the UAE embassy in Isb as well ?

    • Khurem! No you dont need to get it attested from UAE Embassy in Islamabad. Just bring the original one with you after attestation from MoFA Pakistan and rest will be done here.

      • Laila

I am sponsoring my Husband I have been told that i have to attest first from UAE embassy and then from MoFA from Pakistan. Is this right?

      • Yes. That is correct. Now you have to get it attested from Union council where your Nikkah is registered then from MoFA of Pakistan IN Pakistan and then from UAE Embassy in Pakistan then from Pakistani counsulate in UAE (Dubai) and then from UAE’s MoFA in UAE. Good luck!

        Thank alot Muneeb.

This indeed is very helpful and thanks for further clarifying that one need to attest it from UAE embassy as well now.

Also, I have my wife’s new CNIC, but do I need to apply for her NICOP as well? or her old CNIC (urdu version) reflecting the husband name is enough?

        Thanking you in advance.

        Kindest regards, Imran

      • Its good to get NICOP for every overseas Pakistanis.

  2. adnan ahmed

MoFa means, ministry of Forign Affairs ????
no need to attest from UAE embessy in islamabad, need Attestation from UAE embessy from uae only.
and point no 6 i could not understand explain Plz?

    • Ahmed Muneeb

      Hi Adnan,

Yes, MoFA means Ministry of Forign Affairs.

Point No. 6 above is you need new ID of your wife with your name as husband on it. Her CNIC and Passport should reflect your name as busband instead of her father name. Thanks

      Regards,
      Muneeb

can you explain about the application and form mentioned in point 11 .. what application and form is this ?

    • Ahmed Muneeb

Just go to typing center – They will give you a printed paper with your details on it. Just double check all details and proceed further.

Nadra Birth certificates need to be attested from:

      in PK:
      MOFA PK,
      UAE Embassy PK,

      In UAE:
      PK embassy in UAE,
      MOFA UAE.

      I did the same.

    Hi Muneeb

I already got my wife residency on her current passport (with her father name), but i did not change her second name to my name on passport. there is any problem if i do not change her name on passport?? please be guided

    • Hello Masroor,

No worries but her passport should contain your name as husband instead of her father name. There are many women in the world who do NOT change their names after marriage – you are not alone. Thanks

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  9. Muneeb

@ ahmed muneeb…thanks for the info…..if the nikkah certificate is in urdu….then it must be translated in english or arabic for the issuing of spouse residence visa??/

    • Yes, please get computerized Nikkah namma from NADRA and get it attested from Tehsil councilor. Thanks

  11. Hi Muneeb,

I wanted to inquire if I need to obtain a protector for my wife.

I spoke with some other Pakistani expats and they have informed me that it is required.

Can you please provide some information about this?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Fawaz

    • Dear Fawaz,
NO! Protector is NOT required on wife’s visa as yours wife will be on ‘RESIDENT’ visa not ‘EMPLOYMENT’ visa. Thanks

Hi muneeb I want to ask I ve my marriage certificate attested from foreign affairs in pak shud I need to get it attest from uae embassy in islamabad?because somebudy in uae has told my husband dat its necessary?

      • Get your computerized marriage certificate attested from union counsil (where your nikkah is registered) and then from ministry of Foriegn Affairs in Pakistan and then send the original one (keep one copy of it with you) to your husband in UAE and he has to get it attested from Counsel General of Pakistan in UAE and then from MoFA of UAE in Dubai/Abu-Dhabi. That will cost him around 165 Dirhams (total). Thanks

        Regards,
        Muneeb

  12. SAM

    Assalamualaikum Mr. Ahmed Muneeb.
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I have query regarding point 6, what if we don’t go for new CNIC and Passport to replace Father’s name with husband’s name? Is it prerequisite of getting UAE visa or we can apply for it at Pakistan Consulate Dubai after arrival of wife at UAE? Your valuable comments will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    SAM

  13. Sohail

same query regarding point # 6
is it compulsory to change wife’s name?

    • On your wife’s passport – husband name should be there to prove relationship in case if required. Its not necessary to change her second name but husband name is must. I hope it answer’s your query. Good luck!

  14. SAM

    Assalamualaikum

Is replacing Father’s name on CNIC and Passport with Husband’s name is pre-requisite or we it is only good to have?
Your early response will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    SAM

    • Dear SAM,
In my opinion, after marriage the husband’s name should be written on wife’s ID/Passport to prove the relationship. You cannnot carry Nikkah namma everywhere. I hope you get the point. Good luck! Thanks

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  15. Azam

    Aoa,
I want to ask two things:
    A) I have got the marriage certificate of my wife attested from MoFA, but i am still asked by the relatives to get that attested from Uae embassy in pakistan. Though I know that you clarified it a number of times above; but is it a new rule or not a requirement?
    B) The MoFA attested marriage certificate has spellings of my father name different than what are mentioned on my CNIC. Do you think that it can cause problem while its being sent to uae embassy?

    Thanks,

    • Dear Azam,
No need to get your marriage certificate attested from UAE embassy in Pakistan. Just get it attested from your union council where your nikkah is registered and then from MoFA of Pakistan. Then bring the original computerized marriage certificate here in UAE and then get it attested from Pakistani consulate in UAE and then from MoFA of UAE in UAE. Bring the original one with you. Thats it.

      Regards,
      Muneeb

      • Azam

Thanks for the quick reponse.. Could you also reply on point B?

      • I hope, it should not be a problem for you but you should have got the right spellings at the first place. Good luck!

        Regards,
        Muneeb

  16. Ahsan

    Hi Muneeb,

I am from Pakistan and have moved to UAE 5 months ago. I have a UAE resident visa valid for 2 years. I am planning to bring my family here on a visit visa in the month of August for arranging my marriage ceremony here in Abu Dhabi. My question to you is that, can i get married in UAE with my fiancee who will be coming here from Pakistan on a visit visa especially for getting our marriage done here? Can you tell me that will my marriage here be registered? Can you tell me the process for getting it registered here? I am currently not planning for my wife’s permanent residency as i dont currently have a family status. I have planned to bring my wife on 3 months visit visas instead.

    Kindly advise me accordingly.

    Regards,

    Ahsun

    • Dear Ahsan,

Although, I have not experienced anything like this myself but I think you can register your marriage in UAE. People do get married here in UAE but you need to get more information from concerned authorities on this before you start your process. Good luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  17. ali

    Dear Ahmed,
Thanks for shairnig such a useful information I have all the documents attested from mofa but when I sent these to UAE embassy in pakistan by Ups the Ups spokesperson told me that on ur marriage registartion certificate their is no stamp of union councel it is just signed but my concern was that then why mofa attested this so in this case what should I do shoul I tell my faimly to send me documents here because it is attested by mofa of pakistan and then submitt through the process mentioned by you.

    • Dear Ali,
No dont ask your family to send you document here. First get your computerized marriage certificate attested from union council, then from MOFA and then bring them here and get it attested from Pakistani counsulate here in UAE and then from MoFA of UAE. Thats it. Thanks

      Regards,
      Muneeb

    • Dear ZK,
It is part of process. I am not sure why they made part of the process but it is. Thanks

  20. asif

Is there any one who recentely processed spouce visa in UAE. Is attestation from UAE Embassy must or it only has to be attested from minitry of foreign affairs?

in this forum its clealry written that no need of any attestation from UAE embassy but I am being told that attestation from UAE embassy is also required.

    • Dear Asif,

As far as I know, attestation of Nikkah Namma (Marriage certificate) from UAE Embassy in Pakistan is not required. Just get the Nikkah namma (marriage certificate) attested from union council in which you NIkkah is registered and then from MoFA of Pakistan in Pakistan and then bring it here to get it attested from Pakistani counsulate in UAE and then from MoFA of UAE in UAE.

I hope, I have answered your query. Thanks

  21. ramzan

    Hi,
I got my wife residence visa of uae. And send her via email when she got visa she does protect it.so plz guide me is this make trouble or nothing to worry.plz inform

    • If your wife’s visa is a ‘Residence’ visa (check on the visa paper) then she does not need protector.

You need to submit original visa at the airport after ‘OK to board’ stamp from the airline. Good luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  22. ramzan

But she did protect .now plz tell me i ll take a trouble or nothing to worry.

  23. ramzan

Sorry i mean it ll create any problem or nothing to worry.because she did protect her residence visa now.

  24. Taha

    Good day,

I have been googling alot abt the spouse’s visa and came up on different links tht the wife needs to have a tourist visa prior on her passport to proceed for the residence visa… can u plz clarify tht before applying for residenceship i need to get visitor’s visa on my wife’s passport…

    U r doing great work….thumbs up….

    • Dear Taha,

NO, that’s NOT true that your wife needs a tourist visa prior to residence visa. The steps which I have explained are the ones which I experienced. Just submit all required documentation and they will give ‘Entry Permit (pink visa)’ for your wife. Once, she is here then do her medical and Emirates ID and then apply for her IQAMA on passport. Thats it. Good luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  25. Taha

And also can u roughly give me an idea tht how much it will cost in total…coz different links say different amount… security deposit and blah blah…

    • As far as I remember (there could be some slight differences) . . .

Around 300 AED for Entry permit
      Around 250 AED for Medical
Around 250 AED for Emirates ID
      Around 300 for IQAMA stamping

Tickets are other than that. Good luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  26. Ahmed

    Dear Ahmed Muneeb,

First of all i would like to thank you for sharing such information. I also have a confusion regarding the CNIC and passport of wife under husband name.It is already clear in your reply but i need more clarification from your side if you don’t mind.

My wife is having passport and CNIC under her father name, i already completed all paper work like attestation of Nadra marriage certificate from MOFA in Islamabad and other related documents. Now i am going to apply for visa using her passport that is under her father name, and having plan to changer her CNIC and Passport once she arrived in UAE.

Do you think is there will be any problem if i apply before changing her new passport and CNIC under my name?

    Thanks and Regards,

Your prompt reply will be highly appreciated.

    Ahmed
    Abudhabi

    • Dear Ahmed,

If you change her CNIC and passport once she is in UAE then her VISA will be null & void as visa is issued against her passport and if details of passports gets changed then visa gets null & void so my suggestion is don’t do it. Do it in Pakistan (Get her name changed with your name as Husband’s name) and then do the same for her passport and once her passport arrives then apply for her visa. Apply everything in urgent. Good luck!!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

      • Yousuf Vadria

        Dear Both

In my case, I do not want to change my wife passports’ in my name, mainly because of the reason that she holds a US visa and in case I change her passport, her US visa will become null and void as per US embasssy / consulate in Pakistan. For that I discussed the matter verbally with UAE immigration and Pakistan Embassy in the UAE as well as my PRO I have been given to understand following:

        1. Get Nikah nama attested by Mofa, UAE Embassy in Pak and Mofa in UAE.
        2. No need to change passport and apply for her visa.
        3. Keep attested nikah nama as annexure documents for all the visa matters untill there is a stamped visa on her passport.

Once its stamped on her passport, there wont be any issue any more.

        Regards

        Yousuf

P.S. Lets hope there is no problem and verbal understanding holds true :-)

      • Thanks Yousuf.

  27. Fahad

Now it is MANDATORY to get Nikkah Nama attested from UAE EMBASSY in Pakistan
MOFA UAE no longer do get nikkah nama attestation…

now is there any way we can get Nikaah nama attested by UAE Embassy in Pakistan (from here)

    • Dear Fahad,

Thanks for the pointer. You can send your original computerized Nikkah namma to your family in Pakistan who can contact with SASHA company in Islamabad. They will get it attested from UAE Embassy. I am not sure about which documents are required but copies of CNIC and passports of both (husband and wife) would be mandatory. Good luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

    • Mohsin

Dear Fahad , Can you please share your contact number i need to ask some details regarding it …Its urgent as everything is closed here due to Eid holidays and i have to decide

      • Dear Mohsin,

Sorry but no number exchange on this forum please! I have already answered your query. Please check your other comment for answer. Thanks

        Regards,
        Muneeb

  28. Saira

i got the documents attested from MOFA and UAE Embassy Islamabad so whats next now can you please advise as id and passport are in the name of husband so should i jump to point.7 then.

    • Dear Saira,

If all documents are ready and are attested then please proceed with rental agreements and EJARI. . . Thanks

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  29. Mohsin

As per Fahad statement why Marriage Certificate can’t be attested from UAE now ? what happened ?..I have Family Registration certificate from Nadra and attested from MOFA PAK as well…Sasha is taking one month and i was thinking to bring documents in UAE and attest it from here…But after Fahad point i am thinking what to do ?

    • Dear Mohsin,

They have changed the rules. New rule is all Pakistani documents MUST be attested from MoFA of Pakistan in Pakistan and UAE Embassy in Pakistan and then finally from MoFA of UAE in UAE.

Now MoFA of UAE in UAE do NOT attest any documents which are NOT attested by UAE Embassy in Pakistan.

In case of Nikkah namma here are the updated steps:
      1. Get computerized Nikkah Namma
      2. Get it attested from union council where your NIkkah is registered
      3. Get it attested from MoFA of Pakistan in Pakistan
      4. Get it attested from UAE Embassy (Through SASHA company or any other of your choice)
      5. Bring the original NIkkah Namma here in UAE
      6. Get it attested from Pakistan consulate in UAE
      7. Finally Get it attested by MoFA of UAE in UAE

I hope your all queries all answered well here. Good luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

    • Mohsin

Thanks Muneeb,my elder brother met someone in UPS agency like Sasha in ISB,They said that the following documents required and attested for Wife and one kId residency.
1-Nadra’s Family Regestration Certifcate (Includes Me,Wife and Kid..)
      2-English Translation of Nikkah Nama
      3-Urdu Nikkah Nama

All above three will be attested to get UAE visa..

But here my PRO(Public Relation officer) Said Marriage Certificate (Attested from MOFA Pakistan & UAE Embassy Pakistan + Foreign office UAE) and Kid’s Birth Certificate (Attested from MOFA Pakistan & UAE Embassy Pakistan + Foreign office UAE) required ..

So I am confused what is the actual requirement for Family Visa for my wife and 10 months old baby?

      • Follow whatever SASHA is saying. Don’t worry about what others are saying… Good luck!!

        Regards,

  31. Adnan Ahmed

    Dear Muneed
I have attested my marriage Certificate from MOFA from Pakistan & MOFA from Uae before, but I din,t apply Visa for my family now my papers are complete, I can apply visa ?
and my my baby same procedure has to b follow means birth Certificate need to attest Mofa Pakistan & Uae embessy Pakistan then from here ?

    Advice please.

  32. Marwat

Dear Muneeb. Everywhere you mentioned to attest the computerized marriage cert from union council then MOFA Pak then UAE Emb Pak. My question is that all this need to be done on the photocopy of computerized marriage certificate???? Am I right? Because the original document remains with me, right??
2nd question: I heard that all documents which are submitted should be in Arabic and not English…any comments..?

    • Dear Marwat,

First reply: NO. All attestation needs to be done on the original computerized marriage certificate.
Second reply: NO. That’s neither true as well (as far as I know). But you need your nikkah namma in English and Arabic as well.

      Good luck

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  33. Omer Farooq

    Hi Ahmed,

I am in Ajman. We have our NADRA marriage certificate translated in English and Arabic and Attested it from MOFA and UAE Emabssy in Pakistan.

Do I have to get it attested again from Pakistan Consulate and UAE Embassy here in UAE?
The Utility Bill is an issue as my building is on Generator and the bill comes under the owners name, that cannot be changed. I have Etisalaat Bill under my name and my current address.

    Will that work?

Also do I have to get the marriage certificate translated in Arabic as well?

    Thanks,

    Omer

    • Dear Omar,

Yes, you need to get computerized Nikkah namma attested from Pakistani consulate MoFA of UAE in UAE (Ajman)

I am not sure about that bill thing. I came across it for the first time. Please check with concerned authorities. Good luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  34. fasal

    Hi muneeb!

Are you sure that there is no need to attest marrige certificate from UAE embassy islamabad?

    • Dear Fasal,

YES! Now it is required. It was not required few months back but now it is. BTW, you need to have Urdu, English & Computerized (NADRA) versions of your Nikkah namma as well.

  35. Laila

Is that necessary to have NIkkah namma translated in arabic? as all the attestation is already been done in the english nikkah nama
    Regards

    Laila

    • Get it translated to Arabic and also get computerized Nikkah Namma from NADRA and get that one attested. Good Luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

      • Laila

Thanks for your timely and informative response.
        Many Regards

Keep copy of your IDs and passports and original with you all the time. Good luck.

    • Nikkah Namma in Aarbic, Urdu and English version is also required now. Keep all 4 format and get the computerized one and Arabic one attested.

      • Ibtee

Assalam o Alaikum Ahmed Muneeb Sb,

First of all, I would like to appreciate your continuous effort in educating fellow Pakistanis of this important information. There is really a lack of accurate information on the internet regarding this.

I am a mechanical engineer that has recently got job in Abu Dhabi (before working in KSA) and waiting for employment visa now in PAK. My job specifics will allow me to bring my wife to UAE and that is why I have done early Nikah only to expedite the paper work.

I have a few questions that you may be able to answer:

        1) I contacted SASHA and they have said that they will require original urdu nikahnama, english translation of nikahnama on translator letterpad, and marriage registration certificate (MRC) stamped by UC secretary and one copy of NIC/ PP for wife and husband to attest the MRC from UAE embassy.
        a) Is MRC issued by UC or NADRA because NADRA helpline says that they no longer issue MRC/ computerized certificate and it is done by UC.
        b) I saw one sample MRC long time ago and it had both english and urdu in it. So when you say urdu, arabic and english translation of nikahnama, do you mean the arabic and english translation of the original nikahnama or MRC?
        c) Sasha guy told me that they will only attest the MRC and not the arabic translation. So should I pursue other means if attestation for arabic translation is necessary?

        2) For wife’s NICOP making with husband name instead of father name, does husband have to provide his own NICOP/ NIC too? NADRA helpline guy said that they will require urdu NIC of wife, her passport, parent’s NICs, MRC but he said requirements may vary at the NADRA centre and he is not too sure. (Wonder why they call it ‘Help’ line).

Thank you reading this rather lengthy post!

        Ibtee

      • Dear Ibtee,

Thanks for your appreciation. Here are your answers.

        1) Do whatever SASHA advises and keep all original documents with you all the time. I advise you to get your marriage certificate translated into English and Arabic and get computerized one from it is issued now.

        a) Now sure about it. I got mine from NADRA.
        b) Urdu Nikkah Namma is the one which you signed during NIKKAH ceremony -Normally at the same time, they get the English one signed as well. There is copy of same in English. Then get it translated into Arabic. Then once, your nikkah gets registered in union council both English and Urdu attested from them.
        c) Yes, get it translated into Arabic. It will help later. But get the computerized one attested through SASHA.

        2) YES. You have to either go with your wife or give her your original NIC/NICOP. Please go to NADRA executive centers. They have updated information.

Lastly, I would suggest to keep all original documents (including CNIC & Passport) with you all the time. Apply for few things in Parallel. It will save time. Also keep copies your parent ID cards and her parent ID cards with you all the time. Later while applying for protector you need copies of ID card of your siblings too. Good luck!

        Regards.

      • laila abdullah

Do I need to attest arabic translated nikkah nama also from Pakistan?Regards Laila

      • Yes, now it is required to get it attested from UAE Embassy in Pakistan and they do required Arabic translation of everything now. Good luck!

      • Laila Abdullah

Thanks for your timely advice. I don’t have my husband’s passport UAE. Would it be ok if I will take the copy. Regards

  37. kashif

    Hello Muneeb

I want to know how can I obtain my own birth certificate from here Dubai (Pakistani consulate), and what are the requirements and procedure for it. As I don’t have any one in Pakistan to get it done from there. I tried my best to get info from Pakistan consulate but it looks they are living in Mars, so when I ask there answer are “what , we don’t know, plz go to Pakistan and get it from there”..hahahahaaa

    • Dear Kashif, I have NO idea about it. But I think, if you were born here in Dubai then you should contact the hospital first where you were born and hope that they have your old record. Thanks

      Regards.

  38. Sayed Mohammed Mun

    Dear Mr ahmed muneeb,

i would like to appereciate your effort…i would like to know the procedure for attesting marriage certificate when the husband is from india and wife is from pakistan for the u.a.e. visa process….the nikkah had taken place in pakistan, karachi…would really be thankful to you for answering my querry…

    Thanks
    Mohammed Muneeb

    • Dear Muneeb,

Please get your Nikkah Namma attested from union concil where your NIKKAH is registered. If it is Karachi then you have to do it from Karachi and MoFA of Pakistan in Pakistan and UAE Embassy in Pakistan through any attestation service provider in Pakistan.

Please make sure you get copies of your Nikkah namma in Urdu, English, Arabic and computerized one too and get all copies attested. In your case, I am NOT sure about computerized Nikkah Namma (you might require your Pakistani ID card as well – I have no idea about this process).

      Good luck!

  39. Yasir Zaheer

Dear Muneeb, plz accept my felicitations for doing a wonderful job.

My query is ‘Do i need an arabic translation of NADRA issued MRC or of the one signed by me & wife at the time of Nikkah?

Secondly, is it true that MRC and Birth Certificate of my kid (both Issued by NADRA having Details in Eng. & Urdu) are also to be attested from UAE Embassy in Pakistan after MoFA?

    • Dear Yasir,

Yes, now it is required to get it attested from UAE Embassy in Pakistan and they do required Arabic translation of everything now. Good luck!

  40. Danish

    Hi,

Please advise if NICOP is also required or only new CNIC with husband name is enough.

After receiving wife’s entry permit protector certificate / insurance is required for wife as well ?

    • Dear Danish,

As far as I know, Protector is only required in case of employment visa/entry permit. Your wife must be coming on residence visa so protector is NOT required in this case. But check with authorities before you leave. Good luck!!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  41. hajira aziz

    salam..
can u xplain me how my husband will get residence visa for spouse on tourist visa of uae.. without taking exist to pakistan.. can i take xist to somewhere else near UAE.

    • Dear Hajira,

There are many airlines which provide visa status change services (air-arabia “Sharja-Kuwait-Sharja” is one example). You can directly contact airlines for it. No need to go to Pakistan again. Good luck!!

      Muneeb

    • Dear Waseem,

As far as I know you need computerized Nikkah nama attested from MoFA and UAE Embassy.

  46. mehwish akram

muneeb bhai mera nakkha our city mein howa tha kya ab udhar hi jaa kar nadra karwana pade ga english arabic mein wahan ka unionconcil attestad kary ga

    • Dear Mehwish,

Yes, you need to go to same union council where your nikkha is registered. Good luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

    • Imran

Dear Ms Mehwish, you don’t need to go to union Council. Sin e I recently did it, so what you can do is go to NADRA local office and they’ll process your Marriage Registration Certificate in 30mins at PKR 500/-.

This is only possible if your cnic is on your husband name.
      Hope this helps.
      Imran

  47. usman

    dear sir,

i would like to appereciate your effort.how many documents we need to attested from UAE embassy islamabad , only translated one or ALL ( orignal ,nadra , translated in arabic , translated in english ) …

    • Dear Usman,

I am assuming that you are talking about Nikkah Namma… If yes then attestation of only computerized one is required. Thanks

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  48. mehwish akram

  49. mehwish akram

imran bhai mera passport cnic husband k naam se hai lakin nikah jis city mein howa hai udhr hum nai hain lakin nadra office idher jaise apne bola hai register kar den gay jati hon kisi b NADRA office se na?

    • Imran

Yes just go to any Nadra office they’ll give you the MRC and thats it. It would hardly take 30mins.

  50. Asad

    Dear Muneeb,

I have all required docs from pak and gonna apply for residence visa here in dubai in next week (as per the same process you mentioned above).

BUT I have one question in mind related to change of name, my wife name has changed on passport & NICOP (not only as husband but also last name with my name).
Her all educational degree have old name (last name with father name), so I am just wondering what will happen in future,
    1) when she will apply for job here in UAE?
    2) shall we face any issue, if we apply for immigration in future (Canada or Australia) because of name mismatch on Passport & Education certificates?

if you recommend me to change her last name again with her father name (on NICOP first then Passport), then would be possible to do this work here in dubai? as she will be here by mid of dec.

    BR,
    Asad

    • Dear Asad,
As far as I know, it should not create a problem for your wife. Moreover, name change while staying in UAE.

  51. Ibtee

    Dear Ahmed,

Hope you are in good health.

I had asked you a question on this forum before as well. However, today I have a different question. My wife has already obtained MRC from Karachi (as Nikah nama registered in Karachi). I called SASHA to confirm the list of pre-requisites for the attestation. I learned today from them that we can also get the MOFA and UAE attestations from Karachi itself using FEDex or Gerry’s. They get it attested from UAE consulate in Karachi, according to SASHA it is much quicker.

My question for you is, do you know if UAE consulate attestation is as good as UAE embassy attestation. Do you know anyone from Karachi successfully this process? If this is also valid, then I think its much safer and faster to do it from Karachi?

Look forward to your reply. Thanks

    Ibtee

    • waleed ahmed

      Dear Ibtee,

I did from karachi through fedex, its much easier and my wife is already in UAE now.

After getting nadra nikkah nama, You can do only MOFA from pakistan, other all attestation you can do in UAE.

      It will save your time.

      Thanks

      • Ibtee

        Dear Waleed,

        Thanks for the confirmation.

I was really surprised to read on their website that Fedex take only 2 days to get the UAE consulate attestation for Sindh/ Balochistan region. My father-in-law can do that without any problem. Which other attestations are you referring to? My company just asked me to give them the attested MRC, passport copy, pictures and tenancy contract and they said they will do the rest of the work.

        Regards
        Ibtee

      • waleed ahmed

Other attestation like i did MOFA and UAE EMBASSY in Pakistan and then i did attestation from Pakistan embassy in UAE and in the last MOFA in UAE.If your company can do the rest for you that it is good for you.May be they will do the rest attestation for you. Just confirm with your company if they will do the rest or you have to do it in UAE.

      • Ibtee

        Thanks a lot, Waleed.

      • Ibtee

        Dear Waleed,

I have another question if you could answer. Someone told me that I can have the scans of the MRC (attested from MOFA and UAE Emb, Pak) emailed to me and start the process here. Is it true? Or do I need to bring the original with me and then only I can get the e-visa? Thanks.

        Regards
        Ibtee

      • waleed ahmed

I dont have idea about it, better bring original all documents, cuz they have to see original at the time of issuing of visa. Be patient and apply once you have all original attested documents to avoid rejection.

  52. Ahmad Shahzad

Wife’s First residency address on CNIC from Lahore and husband residency is from sahiwal. now please guide if is it mandatory to change residency address on CINC & Passport then it is compulsory to change it from sahiwal or can be change from Lahore?

    • As far as I know, its not required but your name should be on her ID as husband name. Good luck!!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

    • Waqas Ahmad

You need the nadra marriage certificate to be certified from uae embassy in Pakistan
      http://www.dubai.ae/en/pages/default.aspx

  53. rabia

i want to know about this
if wife got a job in dubai, couple is not divorced but they are separated and husband did not give his current passport copy, she has all other documents processed accordingly

does UAE embassy object on this?

  54. Umar Saeed

    Hey there.
There is too much confusion about this process. First everybody keeps saying that “NADRA marriage certificate” is required: there is no such thing as a NADRA marriage certificate. Marriage certificate is issued only by union council while NADRA issues an FRC (Family registration certificate) based on union council marriage certificate. Every single person I ever tried to get help from misguided me with this information.
I think bottom line is that there should be an attested document showing yours and your wife’s marrital status with names of both same as that on passports. Since wife’s name might have changed after marriage and same reflected on new CNIC and passport, union council marriage certificate wouldn’t work since it has wife’s older name on it. FRC is mandatory in that case otherwise even union council marriage certificate (FRC is issued based on wife’s new CNIC) should be sufficient.
    Your thoughts on this.
I’m going to AbuDhabi immigration office on Sunday to get my wife’s visa and expect to face this issue as although I do have FRC with me I didn’t get it attested and only got union council certificate attested from everywhere based on at least 5 people’s suggestions. Wish me luck
What if my wife comes here on tourist visa, can I get her visa status changed and become the sponsor myself without having to exit the country 1 time. Thanks

    • Dear Umar,

Dont be confused. Its simple thing. You need computerized Nikkah namma (people also call it NADRA marriage certificate). Get it attested from UC where your nikkah is registered then from MoFA and finally from UAE Embassy in Pakistan through any service provider like SASHA/UPS etc. Bring original computerized Nikkah namma after attestation with you and get it attested from MoFA of UAE in UAE and Pakistani consultant in UAE. Thats it.

My suggestion is to bring your wife one time only on proper residence visa. Good luck and keep us posted. Thanks

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  55. Nauman

    Hello Ahmed,
Can you please confirm immediately what is minimum salary requirement to apply for spouse visa?

    Thansk
    Nauman

    • Dear Nauman,

As per my knowledge it is 5K AED per month but please check with concerned authorities as rules are changing very frequently. Good luck!!

      • Thanks Ahmed for the reply one more question this 5k is basic?
as I am earning basic Salary 4800 + fixed allowances makes 8000 AED per month and I am also entitled for performance bonus of 2000 AED per month which makes 10K and want to sponsor for my wife dep. Visa

        Thanks
        Nauman

  56. Ibtee

    Assalam o alaikum Ahmed,

Hope you are fine. I have a few more questions for you.

I have the original MRC with me in UAE. Its already attested from MOFA Pakistan and UAE Consulate in Pakistan. What is the next step? Can I now get the MOFA UAE attestation on it and be done or its compulsory to get the Pak Embassy in UAE’s attestation? If yes, what is the procedure for getting Pak embassy in UAE’s attestation?

    Regards,
    Ibtee

  57. Ibtee

Brother, I have twice applied for wife’s visa. But it keeps getting rejected due to ‘security reason’. My wife has never travelled to UAE before and no other reason makes sense. Hows can I remove immg.’s misunderstanding and clear up the security reason. Do you know anyone who deals with this sort of cases or someone whose wife also got rejected due to security reason? Look forward to your help. Thanks.

  58. Balal

hi, i have provide my wife name wrong (new name” but she is using old name on all official papers ID, etc , now i want to make passport for her, will this be a problem ?

    • Dear Bilal,

Name mismatch will create issues. Please make sure you correct all your documentation and provide exact & correct information. Good luck!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  59. Alina

    Hi,
My husband and I both work in UAE and got married recently. While I have quit my job, my husband is still working and I need to get on his VISA.
Issue is that my husband actually moved in to my apartment. So all documents (DEWA/Tenancy) are in my name.
    Will this be ok?

    Regards,
    Alina

    • Dear Alina,

Since, this blog is based on my personal experiences and I never came across such scenario before so cannot pin point on this. However, as far as I know, DEWA & TENANCY must be on the name of sponsor person. When I applied for my wife’s visa (as a sponsor) they asked for all documents and all contracts (on my name). Good luck!!

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  60. Sadaf

Aoa. Sir if my visa in my hand (wife and child visa.. i need protector n english visa needed??

    • Please check with concerned authorities. Thank you

  61. Sarah

Do we need to attest photo copy of computerised marriage certificate or original computerised marriage certificate

    • As per my limited knowledge… Original marriage certificate is required. Attested from Union concil where your Nikkah is registered, then from MoFA of Pakistan in Pakistan and then UAE Embassay in Pakistan and finally from MoFA of UAE in UAE…. However, I always advise people to check with concerned authorities as rules change from time to time. Thank you

  62. Muhammad Shahbaz

    Awesome! Thanks bro

  63. Aysha Tariq

Hi Ahmed, i need one advice. I m in uae right now on visit visa. My husband got a job here so he is waiting for his emirate ID then, will apply my dependent visa. Do you have any idea if i go to Pakistan and apply spouse visa from there rather than doing it here from UAE. I have some family commitment for which i need to go to Pak in this week but i am also scared as i dnt know how much time the whole process will take in Pakistan. Please note as soon he ll get his emirate ID we ll rent the house and our nikah nama is already attested.
Kindly let me know how much time it takes in pakistan.
    Thanks in advance
    kind regards,
    Aysha Tariq

    • Dear Ayesha,
My recommendation is to get everything done here and then go to Pak. Rest decision is all yours.

Please note: Your husband can apply for your visa even if you are out of country. All you need is pink entry permit to come back to UAE. I am not sure about process time now :-)

I hope this will help you. Thank you

      Regards,
      Muneeb

  64. Aysha Tariq

    thanks a million :)
